I-710 Corridor Project

Caltrans has posted the Draft EIR for the I-710 Corridor Project, a major engineering overtaking.

This EIR Draft is talking about the freeway going from Long Beach to Los Angeles and how to make overall improvements for quality of life.  The main changes would involve expanding the freeway to 5 lanes on each side with a separate 4 lane freight truck addition.  The extra 4 lanes would be for freight trucks or the pending new zero-emission trucks arriving soon.  Looking through the EIR there is some serious engineering that would take place along the entire freeway.  One being the moving of the power  lines over part of the LA River for the expansion.  The power lines would sit on a new structure that would still allow the LA River to fill up.  There is also a mention that the additional 4 lanes would be above the current freeway.  The overhead lane may look similar to the carpool lanes above the 110 Harbor Freeway running down South Los Angeles near USC.
