Some Parts of Downtown are Just So Ugly
We went over to the fashion district today, 9th/Maple, to get some fabrics and almost the entire walk starting from Flower/Olympic looked like trash. So many buildings are also vacant and looked destroyed. I think this all goes together. Who wants to be paying $3k rent for 1000 sq. ft. all so you can walk out of your door and trip over the person living in a tent at the doorstep???? Don’t forget the crazy priced $1mil+ condos in these areas all so you can deal with possibly getting attacked.
There are night and day differences in each section of Downtown. Has anyone walked to the Flower District before? Does that seem like a place developers are going to build around? Pee and poop all over the sidewalks. Tents with dirty mostly crazy people in them. These areas seem so ugly that the only way to not want to gouge my eyes out if I looked at a picture, would be by photoshopping a rainbow over the entire photo.
There is currently a lot of different red tape holding back building in the city. I find it hard to believe that this issue does not have a big effect on a developer saying why build here with so many unknowns and no solutions in site, let’s go somewhere else.
