As more projects go under construction, we have some more photos to post. I went to the jobsite near the Arclight Hollywood for a new Enterprise Rent-a-Car that is under construction on North Gower St. right above Sunset Blvd.
The lot was demolished a few months ago, and construction began on the main office and carwash shortly after. In the background will be the parking area with infiltration tanks underneath for Low Impact Development (LID).
The entrance will be interesting as the design accounts for the infiltration tanks clogging, causing a small portion of the parking area to pond and eventually overflow over the driveway. This should never happen, but we try to design for those just in case storms.
The building is looking good. The hard part of designing this site, was that the building sat on the low side with the driveway on the high side. I asked the Architect how come, and he said the building hits the sunlight better with this orientation. I can't argue with that, so we made it work. Its much easier to remove water from a site with the driveway and parking aisle on the low side. Especially when we have to account for LID, which is almost always mitigated using infiltration.
Taking a picture from across the street shows a better view of what's going on during construction.
