St Lucia Avenue

Grading plans, hydrology report, and stormwater sump pump design for two connected 2-story container homes on a sloped lot.

Grading and drainage plan for St Lucia Avenue in Redondo Beach showing two proposed 2-story container homes, bridge structure, driveway under bridge to garages, storm drain pipes, pump outlet, retaining walls, and right-of-way improvements including new sidewalk and curb

Project Type

Residential Remodel

Project Overview

St Lucia Avenue in Redondo Beach. This project involved two 2-story single-family residences made of shipping containers, connected by a bridge structure at the upper levels. A driveway runs underneath the bridge providing access to garages on either side of the property.

The lot slopes from street to rear, requiring a stormwater sump pump system to pump rear drainage up to street level since gravity drainage was not possible. A hydrology report was completed to demonstrate pre and post-development drainage patterns.

The existing power pole was relocated out of the proposed driveway apron, the old driveway apron was closed off, and a new sidewalk was built with the water meter adjusted to proposed grade. All site improvements were designed to meet Redondo Beach and LA County standards.

The project has since been built and is now complete.
