Residential on Illinois Drive

Grading plans, hydrology report, and erosion control plans for a residential remodel on Illinois Drive in South Pasadena. The lot sits above street grade, which meant careful planning for how to handle the elevation change and drainage.

The project involves widening the garage and adding a new staircase up to the house level above Illinois Drive. There is also a large remodel to the existing house. The challenge was designing drainage that worked with the existing topography while respecting an existing planter area on Illinois that we could not disturb.

We matched area drains into the existing topography to pick up drainage low points. Since we could not touch the existing planter area on Illinois Drive, we chose to exit the drainage to Hanscom Drive using a rectangular steel pipe through an existing wall.
