Project Overview
Single-family residential fire rebuild in Altadena following the Eaton Fire. The 0.1795-acre lot slopes 13 feet down from street to rear over 154 feet, a long narrow lot with garage at the rear. We maintained 5:1 (20%) max slopes throughout, with 5% minimum grade 10 feet away from the front of the house to create a flowline on one side that sheet flows towards the easterly driveway. The driveway sheet flows towards a garage at the rear corner. The garage has a trench drain in front to collect stormwater, piped to downspout connections on the west side of the house. All drainage flows into a plastic-lined rain garden at the 5-foot offset from the rear corner of the low point of the lot. A hydrology report was used to demonstrate post-development flows match pre-fire conditions, avoiding the need for an expensive stormwater sump pump.
