Altadena Fire Rebuild Drainage Plans
An Altadena fire rebuild drainage plan for a lot with a 10ft front-to-back drop and existing pool. We raise the house, re-grade the driveway, and add rain gardens to keep post-development Q similar to pre-fire levels.

The existing Altadena cleared lot has a 10ft drop from front to back with an existing pool that will remain at the front yard. The rear of the lot has been cut out into a depression where the house used to sit. The existing driveway dropped down to the garage at 10% slope. We are going to tie this lot in with gravity sheetflow for stormwater towards the back to the pre-fire drainage pattern.

The proposed lot changes the driveway to be above the existing grade with about a 2% slope down to an on grade attached garage. The rest of the house will be raised off the ground. The walkway entrance door will have a new walkway directly to the street. The other exit from the house will blend into the existing pool deck. Flowlines will direct to a proposed landscaped area where we will sheetflow through a cutout to the driveway and flow down the proposed stairs. We are trying to pickup stormwater anywhere we can into landscape before hitting the rear so the drainage pattern becomes better than pre-fire. At the back of the lot we will place plastic lined rain gardens to help keep some more stormwater on site. The overall post Q will be about the same as pre Q while trying to keep some stormwater on site.

Rebuilding Altadena
Altadena first lot since the Eaton Fire, was sold recently on Calaveras Street for $100k above listing. Location and price wise this seems low to me, but also the buyer will have to wait a while before anything can happen.

Was doing some networking this week and getting to chit chat with Architects and developers about the fires has been most interesting.
