Excavation Plans for Los Angeles

When you are going down instead of out, we show you how to get there.

What an excavation plan shows

An excavation plan shows how you are cutting into the site. This comes up when you are building a basement, underground parking, or any structure that goes below grade. We show the temporary cuts, shoring, and what the site looks like in cross-section.

The plan includes vertical cuts or sloped excavations depending on what the soil engineer requires. We underlay the structural engineer's shoring plan to show how everything fits together. Temporary driveways for construction access are also shown.

Los Angeles hillside areas often require these because sites are constrained and you have to go down to get the square footage.

What goes into an excavation plan

  • Two sections through the excavation showing existing and proposed grades
  • Horizontal 1:1 slopes or vertical cuts per soil engineer
  • Structural engineer's shoring outline underlaid
  • Temporary construction driveway location
  • Earthwork calculations for cut and fill volumes
  • Proposed building line and foundations
