Hillside Grading for Los Angeles
When your lot slopes toward your views, we figure out how to build on it.
What hillside grading is
Hillside grading is different from flat land grading. On a sloped lot, you have to think about where water goes, how you access the property, and what walls you need to create usable flat areas. Los Angeles hillside areas like Altadena, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu have terrain that requires special attention.
We specialize in hillside grading. We design for steep terrain where standard slopes do not work. This means thinking about 2:1 slopes, retaining wall layouts, and driveway grades that work with the topography instead of against it.
The city has requirements for hillside construction. Retaining walls, slope stability, and drainage all need to be addressed. We have experience with these requirements and know what the plan checkers want to see.
What goes into a hillside grading plan
- 2:1 slope design per soil engineer requirements
- Retaining wall locations and heights
- Driveway grades that work for the terrain
- Views and how the building fits the land
- Drainage patterns across sloped areas
- Cut and fill calculations
