Hydrology Reports for Los Angeles
When the city wants to see how your project changes water flow, we write the report that shows it.
What a hydrology report shows
A hydrology report answers one question: what happens to stormwater when you build on this site? The city wants to know that your project does not make drainage problems worse downstream.
We analyze the site drainage patterns before and after construction. Where does water enter the property, where does it go, and how fast? We break the site into drainage areas and calculate how each one contributes to overall flow.
The report includes pre-development Q flowrates and post-development Q flowrates. If post-development is higher, we recommend mitigation measures like LID systems or detention basins to bring it back down.
We also show where water drains to. Sometimes it goes to the street, sometimes to a storm drain, sometimes to a neighboring property. Understanding the outfall is critical to designing the right solution.
What goes into a hydrology report
- Pre-development drainage pattern description
- Post-development drainage pattern description
- Drainage area delineation with calculations
- Pre and post Q50 flowrate calculations
- Pre and post hydrology maps with drainage patterns
- Mitigation recommendations if needed
